A deeper insight into the pottering of Mr. George, Mr. Scholes, and Mr. Robson.

Igrok (The Gambler)…Coming to a Theatre Near You!

Prepare to mark your calendars because it has officially been announced that Studio 501 located at Pace University in NYC will be hosting The Gambler directed by George Robson in November.

I adapted the script for Igrok (The Gambler) directly from Dostoevsky’s novella of the same name, translated by Andrew MacAndrew (name sounds made up don’t it?) . I wrote it specifically with Studio 501 in mind and I’m very excited to see over half a year’s work come to fruition.

For those who are interested in coming to see and support this new work, the show opens WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH and closes SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4TH.

For those of you looking to support the play in pre-production, I’m on the lookout for the following items throughout the summer to avoid stress and economic anxiety come November:

  • Money Shovel
  • Dining Table
  • 5-6 Dining Chairs
  • Casino Money (Gold coins, Wrapping paper for coins, paper notes)
  • Old Wheelchair
  • Paint for Set
  • Artistic Materials for Mural Painting
  • Bench
  • Couch/Lounge Chair
  • Costumes/Costume Materials
The items listed above ideally should look as if they are from around Central Europe 1863 (I’ll surely settle for ballpark antiquity…but I have certain limits)
  No Togas!
So if anyone has any donations or loans they’d like to make to the production on a budget it’d be greatly appreciated. If you happen to have any of the items listed and are willing to part with them at least temporarily you can get in touch with me at gsrv@optonline.net

The 2nd announcement I have is that I plan to release a new double EP for GSRV Music by October. Obviously this is subject to change but in listening to the new songs I’ve written for the next release, one cohesive album doesn’t seem likely, thus prompting the necessity for two distinct sounding EP’s. One will have more rock/hipster (you read correctly) flavors while the other will be more influenced by R&B and early 90’s Hip Hop. The idea of mixing the two concepts slightly concerned me…
It’s ironic cuz my parents bought me this boom box to stick it to the man!

Can’t imagine why…
